Stockard Channing, Hugh Dancy & More Celebrate Apologia’s Off-Broadway Opening

Stage and screen star Stockard Channing is back on the boards in Alexi Kaye Campbell’s Apologia. The play, which had an acclaimed run in London last year, follows Kristin Miller (Channing), a radical activist and political protester of the 1960s turned celebrated art historian. The revelation that she will publish her memoir threatens to split her family apart. Channing, playwright Alexi Kaye Campbell, director Daniel Aukin, Hugh Dancy, Talene Monahon, Megalyn Echikunwoke and John Tillinger celebrated the show’s off-Broadway opening on October 16. Take a peek at the photos, and then see the play at the Laura Pels Theatre through December 16. – Source

September 5th, 2018 | Hugh at ‘Apologia’ play photocall in New York

Stockard Channing, Hugh Dancy, and the cast of Alexi Kaye Campbell’s Apologia met the press at their rehearsal studio on September 5. Directed by Daniel Aukin, the Roundabout Theatre Company production will begin performances September 27 ahead of an October 16 opening at the Laura Pels Theatre.

Channing takes on the role of Kristin, which she played during the drama’s 2017 West End production last summer. Dancy plays Peter, with Megalyn Echikunwoke as Claire, Talene Monahon as Trudi, and John Tillinger as Hugh.

Apologia is described as follows: “You do not mess with Kristin Miller (Channing). In the 1960s, she was a radical activist and political protester. Now a celebrated art historian, the publication of her memoir threatens to split her family apart. But Kristin has never been one to shy away from a fight. Apologia is a passionate, human, and humorous clash of generations and beliefs — a lively look at yesterday’s rebels living in today’s reality.

Hugh to star in the off-Broadway play “Apologia”

Hugh Dancy who will join Stockard Channing in the off-Broadway transfer of Alexi Kaye Campbell’s play Apologia, which had a run at Trafalgar Studios last year.

Dancy will play two brothers in the drama about a Sixties radical who tries to impose her beliefs on her children.

It’s a lively, and engaging play that should work well in New York. It opens at the Laura Pels Theatre in October.
